About the Peaches

The first thing people always ask is this:  what is a careful peach anyway?  Well, obviously, it’s a piece of fruit that always looks both ways when crossing the street, but beyond that, we’re an Oak Park-based boutique with a focus on the sweeter things in life.  Inspired by the French way of living, we think that you should always surround yourself with beautiful things, and, what’s more…you should use them.  Ground-breaking, really.  Basically, we like to think of ourselves as a mini department store.  After all, we’ve got a little bit of just about everything, from vintage and antique to brand spankin’ new, and we’re always looking to expand.  But we’re not here to enthrall you with details of our product listing (that’s what our other site is for):  our blog is a place for all of our Peaches to come together and share things we love.  It’s as simple as that.  Because the Peach is more than just a cute little shop–it’s a philosophy too.  We believe that the little things in life matter.  We believe in doing what makes you happy.  We believe in having that second helping.  And, perhaps most importantly, we believe in the power of positive thinking.  In other words, the glass is always half full.  And if it’s half full of wine, all the better. So come on in, stay awhile, and give us a shout whenever you feel so inclined.

But who are we?

Karen

The Head Peach, le grand fromage, our fearless leader.  Our favorite artiste hails from the South, bringing with her all the charm and joie de vivre Tennessee could spare.  An ardent animal lover, Karen and Mr. Peach (or Peter, whichever you prefer) are proud parents to a houseful of cats and dogs, the unofficial Peach mascots.  What does Karen love best about her job?  Certainly all the people she’s met along the way, but the buying trips to France aren’t too bad either.  In her spare time, Karen enjoys a good Lady Gaga dance party and tearing up the town with friends.  She wouldn’t say no to a glass of red wine either.

Jessie

Jessie started her Peachy existence as an intern and now we just can’t shake her.  Her favorite part of the job is writing puns for the newsletter, and also reaping the benefits of free cheese at Peach events.  Her work at the Peach has saddled her with a debilitating addiction to nice-smelling soaps and intriguing light fixtures.   Jessie is also fond of sunny days, driving with the windows down, traveling, cold drinks, cute dresses, and good music.

Sarah P.

Sarah P. has worked at the Peach off and on since 2006, recently making a triumphant return just like a boomerang after exploring the globe on an archaeological dig in Israel and gallavanting around New Zealand with her beau.  Her latest venture a la Peche is heading up our very own Product Development Department, which means the uber-creative Miss P. spends her days with us brainstorming and designing fantastic new products fit to carry the proud Peach name.  Sarah enjoys a good crossword puzzle, collecting eyeglasses and the finest collection of vintage duds this side of the Mississippi, and a fine glass of Pernod after a delectable meal.
